The name Riwayat means Tradition in Urdu language,
Riwayat is a traditionally distilled Hindi Oud from Golaghat district of Assam, India.
It opens with some intense but pleasant and addictive woody notes, wet wood perhaps. As if the oud has been coated with a layer of thick butter, you get those buttery, silky, cheesy and oily notes interspersed in between woody notes. It just creates havoc around you. A hay note is quite prominent here. I could also appreciate a note of dry plums & peaches. A soft and light note of tobacco can’t be missed and at last it is quite balsamic which not only relieves your stress but also brings glee on your face.
Distilled on May 2022 using high grade Agarwood shavings
soaked for 5 days.
Matured and cured for almost 6 months. Will become even better with aging.
Old Skool Hindi Lovers! This is your cup of tea.
Riwayat is the first fragrance I’ve worn in a week since contracting Covid. A short 5 day soak and low temperature Distillation in the old ways. As soon as it touches skin I get wafts from arms length. Buttery cheese, viscous and silky smoothed texture with a strong woody essence. The cheesiness fades to leathery mid-tones, the overall impression is neither too dark not too light. There are notes of dry grass and hints of golden hay, as it wears, and it wears well into the hours, picking up facets of dried dark fruit & honey’d tobacco. This oil is very rounded, no sharp edges and it’s one of the better performing oils in my stable. Overall I place this 2022 oil among my favourite Hindi, which are my most treasured oils and I’m positive it’s going to improve with age.
